How it's worked out
Starting from today's balance, every paycheque is added on the day it lands and every bill is taken out on its due date, in that order, for the next 30 days. Order is the whole point: a month can balance out and still dip below zero when rent comes out two days before pay comes in. On a day with both, the bill goes first, because a paycheque isn't always posted before a bill clears.
Everyday spending from the account (debit purchases, cash) is taken out evenly each day. What you buy on a credit card isn't counted day by day; it reaches the account as the card payment, so list that as a bill.
"Safe to spend" is what could go out today on top of everything listed and still keep your balance at or above the amount you choose every day for the month. If you'd come up short, it looks for one bill due before the low point whose due date, moved to just after payday, keeps the whole month above that line.
